The Wild Atlantic Way – February 2016
We travelled to the West of Ireland with a group of six singers and a photographer.
The first showcase was scheduled in Killarney for the Beaufort Bar & Restaurant for Aghadoe Heights Hotel. Most of our audience were from the USA and we arrived completely unexpectedly. It was great fun! We waited in the restaurant upstairs and then most of us walked through the bar, past the big open fire with local regulars looking completely mystified. An absolutely lovely place, wonderful staff and a hugely appreciative audience.
On the journey down we could see the snow on the mountains in the absolutely beautiful sunshine. As the prime purpose was for photographs in this incredible landscape, we were delighted and were looking forward to the next day shooting. Morning arrived with sheets of rain, the kind that travels parallel to the ground and is unique to the West of Ireland. After a series of meetings and no photographs, we travelled to the beautiful Europe Hotel. We performed for their wonderfully charming staff.
From here we drove up the coast to Galway and another meeting. The weather managed to get worse if that was even possible.
The next morning (with very little time) we arrived at Ashford Castle in bright sunshine. This is an incredibly beautiful place, rightly voted world’s best hotel by one of the travel industry’s leading luxury networks (Virtuoso) in 2015. We performed a short set for guests and members of staff. We were treated to an absolutely gorgeous lunch afterwards. It was terribly difficult to leave!
The trip was a huge success from the point of view of meeting so many wonderful people. Our photoshoot along the Wild Atlantic Way was less successful. We are already planning another one as soon as possible.

We have a casualty as poor Vicky waits to be taken to the medical center in Cong with severe tonsillitis. We lose our photographer Annalise who accompanies her to the doctor.
Wonderful hospitality from Ashford Castle, an incredible lunch!
